Our Projects

At ReFi Enugu, we harness Web3 technologies and community-driven actions to combat deforestation, urban sprawl, and ecological challenges in Enugu, Nigeria. Our projects blend education, hands-on regeneration, and decentralized tools to empower local leaders, foster biodiversity, and build sustainable partnerships. Rooted in ReFi DAO's global mission, these initiatives prioritize low-cost, replicable interventions like tree planting and green space creation. Below, we highlight our core projects, each with a clear strategic objective and measurable targets to drive lasting impact.

Web3 Education Series

Launching in 2026, this ongoing series features quarterly virtual and in-person workshops and meetups for small community groups (10–20 participants). Topics cover blockchain basics, ReFi case studies (e.g., tokenizing carbon credits), and practical tools for sustainability, such as dApps for tracking green initiatives. Sessions use free online resources, Zoom streams on X, and local venues like schools, with content archived on our website for broader access.

Strategic Objective: Build local capacity in Web3 to support regenerative practices, targeting environmental enthusiasts, students, and leaders to co-create tech-enabled solutions for Enugu's biodiversity.

Key Results/Targets:

  • Train 100+ individuals annually, with 50% participation rate in follow-up meetups.
  • Develop 3 community-led Web3 tools (e.g., a simple DAO for project voting) by end-2026.
  • Achieve 10,000 X interactions from promotional threads, growing membership by 20%.
Green Spaces Series

This independent, youth-centric initiative, which delivers interactive workshops in secondary schools, is designed to ignite students aged 10–18's passion for embracing regeneration and a green future. Each 3-hour session sparks wonder through storytelling sessions, hands-on experiments like building mini-greenhouses from recycled materials, and creative visioning activities where kids design "dream green cities" using simple Web3 concepts. Culminating in a symbolic tree-planting pledge, it partners with schools to embed regenerative thinking into curricula.

Strategic Objective: Inspire the next generation to embrace regeneration as a joyful, tech-empowered path to a green future.

Key Results/Targets:

  • Reach 200 students annually across workshops, with 70% expressing heightened commitment to green actions.
  • Distribute 200+ digital "Green Pioneer" POAPs, inspiring 40% to launch school-based eco-clubs.
  • Influence 2 school curricula integrations by 2027, tracking long-term impact through annual youth-led reports.

An upcoming event designed to engage the community in co-creating a regenerative future through active participation

This flagship one-day activation event, scheduled between August 15 and November 15, 2025, unites 10 participants—ReFi Enugu members, environmental enthusiasts, and Web3 newcomers—for a 4-hour program of immersive activities. It builds on our November 2024 youth Web3 event, addressing gaps in regenerative awareness through interactive sessions on blockchain for ecology, a guided nature walk in Enugu's surroundings, a hands-on tree planting demonstration with locally sourced saplings, and a collaborative visioning session to roadmap future projects.

Strategic Objective: Activate the ReFi Enugu Local Node by empowering participants with Web3 skills for regenerative practices, while catalyzing community-led ecological restoration to combat deforestation.

Key Results/Targets:

  • Engage 10 participants, with 80% reporting increased Web3 literacy via post-event surveys.
  • Plant 20+ trees, achieving 90% survival rate through volunteer monitoring.
  • Secure 2+ local partnerships for ongoing green space projects, replicable as an annual model.

Digital Stories

This multimedia documentation project, rolling out in Q4 2025, captures and disseminates ReFi Enugu's stories through accessible digital formats to educate and mobilize the wider public on regeneration. A volunteer-led team produces 2–3 pieces monthly: mini-documentaries (5–10 min films on events like tree-planting drives, featuring local voices and Web3 integrations); engaging blog posts (500–800 words on topics like "How Blockchain Powers Community Gardens," optimized for our website and LinkedIn); and short videos (30–60 sec clips for X and TikTok, showcasing quick tips like "Plant a Tree in 5 Steps with POAP Rewards"). Content is co-created with participants, minted as NFTs for transparency, and amplified via partnerships with ReFi The Hague for global reach.

Strategic Objective: Educate and inspire the public on Web3-driven regeneration through compelling, shareable content, turning passive audiences into active allies for Enugu's green transformation.

Key Results/Targets:

  • Produce 24+ pieces annually (8 mini-docs, 12 blogs, 24 shorts), reaching 50,000+ views across platforms.
  • Boost community engagement by 30% (e.g., X interactions, newsletter sign-ups) through content-driven calls-to-action.
  • Collaborate on 4 co-branded series by 2026, with 20% of viewers converting to volunteers or donors.

These projects form the backbone of ReFi Enugu's work, with ongoing funding pursuits (e.g., via ReFi DAO grants) ensuring high-impact execution.
